Friendicoes SECA encompasses multiple animal care centres and while visitors & volunteers are not allowed at the Spay Neuter centres, the City Shelter in Delhi, the Lifetime Care Sanctuary in Sec 99 Gurgaon and the Adoption Centre in Sec 59, Gurgaon are open to the public. In fact we encourage daily visits by animal lovers to come spend time with the animals and give them some much deserved attention and enrichment. What most companion animals crave for is human attention and due to the huge volume of animals in our care we are unable to give them as much individual time and attention as they require and want. Your visits can bring a lot of happiness to the hearts of these beautiful souls and we hope to see more people visit the shelter in the near future.
While the City Shelter is open to both visitors & volunteers for limited hours due to space constraints (it is best to always check with the front office before a visit), the Lifetime Care Sanctuary is open to visitors all 7 days of the week between 10am to 1 pm and 3pm to 5pm. Likewise the Adoption Centre in Sec 59, Gurgaon is also open to visitors from 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 5pm all 7 days of the week.
We believe animals have a great therapeutic effect on disturbed minds and souls. Their pure hearts and funny antics can destress the most wired up humans and some unadulterated time in their company can make the biggest cynic burst into smiles of joy. Which is why in the west therapy dogs & cats are a huge thing and used by medical professionals to treat their patients. From autism to mental health to addiction rehab to prison inmates and even palliative care have therapy animals as part of their healing. And to think many of these animals are rescued dogs and cats who would have otherwise wasted away in shelters. Thanks to a second chance they are now helping people feel better about themselves. Hopefully we get to see the same in India soon.
