Psycho is no ordinary cat!

We've all heard of kittens growing up with dogs and developing identity crisis. But the cat that I write about now, has formed a new category of misfits. He has a split personality identity crisis syndrome. He's a typical cat, purring away on his owner's stomach when he wants affection, but a hyper-active teething puppy when he's up and about. His confusion of what he is today has to be blamed on his upbringing, as he has been hand raised by volunteers, amongst a litter of bull mastiff puppies, mothered by the bull mastiff mom and the lady of the house. He is the first cat I know who viciously attacks the wagging tail of a full grown bull mastiff, uses it as a chew toy, hangs from the folds of their snouts, pushes the pups away to feed on the mother, and manages to get maximum space amongst all the puppies when its nap time. With time, his personality and tactics has made us all name him Psycho. He is the proud survivor of a litter of three kittens, which were abandoned at Friendicoes with the same old story of 'mom missing, kittens dying on the road. The whole litter including him was fostered by our very dedicated volunteers Georgie and Karl, who claims the honor of being excellent foster parents. Unfortunately the other two kittens did not survive, and Psycho too had to push his way through eye infections and congestions until we almost thought he would not survive either. But he proved us all wrong and today he is a beautiful black cat with soft yellow eyes, and a personality unlike any other cats. Most of the day he is just a blur. He spends his entire time running around, chasing imaginary creatures floating about and it is a very rare moment when you can actually see him take a pause from his busy schedule. You can see him dart about from the corner of your eye all the time, but not once will you "see" what he's running towards or after. He has a thing for moving hands, so if ever anyone's typing on the key board, he positions himself "for the great leap", with absolute focus on his face he wriggles his body into a recoiled spring position, and then leaps into the air, only to always miss the target!

If you ever get hold of him to smother him with hugs and kisses, he fights back with all the strength his little body can muster, and viciously bites (though his small teeth hurt but cannot do much damage right now) your hands to loosen your grip. But when he wants attention, he softly walks into your lap without waiting to be invited, and curls himself into a fur ball and purrs himself to sleep. As he grew both in size and personality, it's become more and more difficult to restrict his movements. His curious joe personality makes him "attack" every sleeping stray dog, a throwback to his days with a "tolerant" bull mastiff mother, and it's a wonder how he has managed to keep himself alive. Unfortunately he never got adopted and now resides in the Kitty Corner at the Friendicoes SECA country sanctuary.
